The approach is through a narrow lobby in which three dessert services are displayed in glass cases: one of white Bohemian glass, the others of Worcester and Berlin china. The former servants' hall is on the ground floor of the old wing and recalls the character of the lost Jacobean house with its beamed ceiling, large open fireplace, mullion windows, oak panelled walls and stone flagged floor. Here are exhibited various items of special family interest, notably the Georgian Christening robes. That in the centre dates from the 1760s and was worn by Katherine Maria, last of the Greshams; the other of satin and Honiton lace, is early eighteenth century.
