Woodland Walks

Titsey is one of the largest surviving historic estates in Surrey and dates back to the mid-sixteenth century

Open much of the year to the general public, the Titsey Foundation owns about 500 acres of woodland. Divided into two distinct areas, Titsey Place Plantation and the High Chart, work is being carried out in conjunction with the Forestry Commission to improve the habitat, timber quality and public access.

Free car parking for the Plantation area is at either Pitchfont Lodge or Botley Hill, where display boards show the main woodland trails. Some of the paths are very steep and walkers must be prepared for difficult terrain.

Walking around the High Chart area is possible but not all paths are clearly marked and you are advised to take a Land Ranger and Ordnance Survey map if you are unsure of the route.

Dogs are welcome to enjoy our woodland walks.

WOODLAND WORK UPDATES – 28th October – 31st December 2024

The estate is currently undertaking thinning works to plantations in the High Chart. This involves the removal of some trees or parts of trees to encourage the best growth, allowing for a more diverse woodland structure and helping to future proof the landscape. Please be aware of machinery in and around paths, and follow the forestry operation signs at all times for your own safety. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your cooperation.
